Dr. Joe Harkins

Dr. Harkins has been practicing General Dentistry in Lubbock since 1976.

After graduating from Borger High School in Borger, Texas, he attended West Texas State University in Canyon where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree.  He furthered his study at the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston where he received his Doctorate in 1976.  Other areas of training included M.D. Anderson Hospital in the Head and Neck Cancer Clinic, Center Pavilion Maxillo-facial Clinic and Anesthesiology Department, and Ben Taub Hospital Oral Surgery Clinic in Houston, TX.

For his state and community service, Dr. Harkins received the Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Dental Association in 1987.  He was also elected Dentist of the Year in 1988 from the South Plains District Dental Society.  He was elected President of the local Dental Association for 1992-1993.

Since his practice includes orthodontics, implants, and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Harkins maintains membership in the American Dental Association, American Orthodontic Society, the International Orthodontic Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry.  Dr. Harkins is Past President of the Lubbock Business Association, a member of the Lubbock Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and an assistant Scoutmaster.

He is married and has three children.  Joe enjoys racquetball, water skiing, snow skiing and gardening.
